LIVING IN THE

LIGHT OF GOD

LET YOUR LIGHT

SHINE!

Our 2008 Stewardship Campaign begins Sunday, September 30th.  The theme for our giving is “Living in the Light of God: Let Your Light Shine!”

Light!  Life!  Illumination!  Warmth!  Healing!

All are related to the biblical image of Christ as Light of the World.  Yet, in Matthew’s Gospel, Christ tells us “YOU are the Light of the World!”  That truth carries the responsibility of shining light on God’s truth and Christ’s teachings about hope and compassion and community.

The degree to which any church is committed to be and bring light is reflected in its budget – how it uses its treasury as well as its energy.

On Consecration Sunday, October 21st, YOU will have the opportunity to join with others within our church family to turn on the light!

The proposed 2008 budget will be arriving at your home soon!

“You are the light of the world!

You are the light of the world!

But if that light is under a bushel,

Brrr, it’s lost something kinda crucial

You got to stay bright to be the light of the world…

So let your light so shine before men

Let your light so shine

So that they might know some kindness again

We all need help to feel fine!”

TO THE CONGREGATION

I wanted to take a chance to thank you for the Love Gift and for the 8 years I worked with your children and youth, and occasionally the adults!  You are a special group of people that I won't forget.  Your openness and generosity is incredible.  And speaking of incredible, your youth are amazing.  Don't forget to tell them occasionally what beloved children they are of a Creator God.  Tell them when you see God reflected in something they do or say.  They need to hear it and you need to say it as well!  They have been an astounding group of young men and women and I will miss them and the things they taught me.  I will continue to pray for them and the congregation daily.  Thank you again for the Love Gift and the support and love I felt working there.

STEWARDSHIP 2007

“Living in the Light of God:

Let your Light Shine!”

God’s light, presence, grace and abundance are the focus of our theme for our 2007 Stewardship campaign at church.

  • What is our response to God’s light and love in our lives, as individuals and as a community of the faithful in this time and place?
  • How shall we live faithfully?

We are a community of people graced by the SPIRIT of GOD!

As creatures created in the image of God, Imago Dei, we are invited and called to give generously and out of gratitude.

We, like God, have light to shine!

Love to share!

Life to give!

Our campaign kicks off on Sunday, September 30.  Each week we will focus on different facets of God’s light in our community.  Please join us each week, and especially on Consecration Sunday, October 21.

Ohio was the destination for Carol and Ed Poore.  They visited family and friends and

enjoyed the “green of things” as the trees, lawns and meadows were lush and green!

The Tall Grass Prairie was one of the destinations on the road trip Jean and Ray Crowder took.  They then traveled to South Dakota for a high school class reunion.  Jean reports they had a wonderful time.

While on a trip to Nova Scotia to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Peggie and Roger Hudiburg were called home prematurely because of the death of their good friend

Wayne Stockebrand.

Joann Dennett enjoyed a week at the Inn at the Opera in San Francisco where she attended performances of Samson and Delilah and Tannhauser.  She also visited the Asian Art Museum and went to the Target Family Concert of the San Francisco Symphony.
