Beginning November 4th, our new nursery attendant will be Robyn Wodiuk!  Robyn works with and comes highly recommended by Sarah Johnson, our former attendant.  She is a student at Naropa University and presently works for a local child care facility.

The Church Growth and Fellowship Committee will be collecting socks for Community Table on October 28, November 4 and November 11.  A basket to collect the socks will be located in the narthex.  Mainly socks for males are needed.

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER

Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 18th, the date for this year’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner.  Elders host this much anticipated church family celebration, preparing the traditional turkey, ‘taters and dressing (and likely a vegetarian option).  Others can bring their family favorite side dish or a new “sounds incredible” recipe sharing.

WORLD COMMUNITY DAY

 

“World Community Day,” a program presented by Church Women United, will be held at Mountain View Methodist Church, 355 Ponca Place, Boulder on Friday, November 2nd at 10:30 a.m.  The theme is “Embracing God’s Justice—Under God’s Tent.”  Lunch will be served; the cost is $6.00.  Reservations should be turned in to Jan Einert at 303.442.2384 on or before Monday, October 29th.  Jan will provide transportation from Golden West door #4 at 10:00 a.m.

 

NEW WOMEN’S GROUP

 

All women are invited to the next New Women’s Group brunch meeting at 9:30 a.m.

on Saturday, November 3 at the home of Cindy Zimmerman.  Carol Poore will lead the discussion regarding the Pledge of Allegiance issues.

 

ELDERS

 

Following the 10:00 a.m. worship service on November 4 the Elders will meet in Riley Hall.

 

 

FNATM

 

Cindy and Terry Zimmerman will host the Friday, November 9, Friday Night at the Movies at 7:00 p.m.  The movie is Jesus Camp.

 

30TH ANNUAL DINNER FOR COLORADO CHRISTIAN HOME

 

Saturday, November 10 is the annual dinner for the Colorado Christian Home at the Colorado Convention Center, Korbel Ballroom.  Contact Carol Ashmore at 720.304.2113 for information and reservations.

BOOK FAIR

 

Our annual Book Fair will be Sunday, November 11 and Sunday, November 18.  Purchase your books in the narthex before and after the sanctuary worship service.

 

FCC BOARD MEETING

 

The next regularly scheduled FCC Board meeting is Tuesday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m.

in the Education Building, Room #5.

LIFE & NEWS OF THE CONGREGATION!

 

Sharon and Warren Wendling enjoyed their trip to see the fall foliage in Vermont & New Hampshire.  Sharon described the colors as if they were painted by number!  This was their 8th trip this year!  They are truly enjoying their retirement.

                               

Daniel Abel received a trophy and certificate for being the best mid-fielder on his soccer team, the Cheetah’s!  Way to go, Daniel!

 

A wedding in Baltimore was the one of the destinations for Janet Barriger and Brian Holmes.  Janet was the “Best Woman!`” at the wedding.  Following the wedding they drove to NJ to visit friends.

GENERAL MINISTER & PRESIDENT TO VISIT MIDDLE EAST

General Minister and President Sharon E. Watkins will leave this weekend on her first trip to the Middle East.  During her October 21-26 visit, Watkins will have an opportunity to meet with Global Ministry partners and view the current climate in the region.  Peter Makari, Global Ministries area executive for the Middle East and Europe will accompany Watkins on the visit, which will include conversations with the Middle East Council of Churches, as well as visits to schools, a peacemaker team and interfaith programs.

"As we meet with our ecumenical partners, please pray that we approach our conversation with a listening ear to what is being offered to us as witness of God's presence in the region," said Watkins.  "Please pray that we may join with our brothers and sisters in the unity that comes from our shared passion for peace with justice.  "From October 27-30, Watkins will be in Damascus, Syria attending the Permanent Committee on Consensus and Collaboration for the World Council of Churches (WCC).  The committee provides a forum for the Protestant and Orthodox members of WCC to further explore their relationship.
