ANNUAL MEETING OF CONGREGATION

In accordance with the constitution and by-laws of the congregation of the church, our Annual Meeting will be conducted on Sunday, November 11th following the morning sanctuary worship.  The budget and officer candidates for 2008 will be presented for approval by the congregation.  All are encouraged to attend this important and informative meeting.  Each member of the congregation is entitled to one vote.

MASTER AGREEMENT SIGNED

Have you heard the shouts of joy?  On September 27th, the Master Agreement among Jim Chanin (buyer of the church property), Golden West, and FCC was signed by Hugh Crowder, on behalf of the Trustees and the FCC.  The Master Agreement covers easement agreements, and height/set-back/signage/unit access/Euclid dedication/parking entrance agreements for new development at 950 28th Street between the respective interested parties.  With this Agreement, Jim Chanin’s company has transferred funds to the title company, and FCC will have funds available to contract for a new property.  Thus, the Campus and Future Exploration (CAFÉ) Committee begins its search!

With the last (8th) Amendment to FCC’s contract with Chanin, FCC has until May 14, 2008, to locate a replacement property; and Chanin has until December 3, 2009, to obtain approvals from the City of Boulder for his company’s project.

Thanks so much to Brendan Chatham (FCC legal counsel), Hugh Crowder, Gary Howell, and Eleanor Hubbard for the time and energy spent in reaching these agreements.

Marcie Geissinger, Chair, Board of Trustees

VOLUNTEERS IN THE COMMUNITY FROM FCC

A questionnaire was sent out to FCC members, by way of The Ram’s Horn in spring of 2005.  The purpose was to acknowledge and thank our church members who volunteer in the community.  Also, the information supplied by the volunteers, such as volunteer organization contact phone numbers, specifics about the volunteer jobs, is contained in a booklet which is available to others who are interested in similar volunteer jobs.

A list with more details about these volunteer jobs can be found in the church office.

The questionnaire is included in this Ram’s Horn for those who did not have an opportunity to share their information regarding volunteer jobs in the community.

LIFE & NEWS OF THE CONGREGATION!

BIG THANKS go to Rosie Campbell, Debbie Haseman, Martha Mason, Nancy Root, Rachel Shepherd and Cindy Zimmerman for their help in hosting the VERY SUCCESSFUL Jesus Seminar on the Road event held here last weekend!  Over 100 participated in each session of the two-day seminar!

Lucky gal, that Connie Visser!  She is traveling to Italy with her daughter for two weeks!

We received word that Catherine Buren is in physical rehabilitation at Frasier Meadows.

Jan Ulrich, former member now living in Baltimore, MD, called to chat last week.  She is very much involved in a Disciples church there along with her daughter and grandson.  Of course she is singing in the choir!

High temperatures.  Chicago.  Marathon runners.  Chris Ford participated but the run was cancelled because of the heat and a heat related death.

Linda and Mike Abel thoroughly enjoyed their road trip to Montana.  The fall colors were spectacular.  They saw a mama bear with her two cubs and lots of other wildlife.  (Linda was hoping to see a moose!)  On the day they were leaving they woke up to snow in West Yellowstone.  But Montana is rightly named Big Sky Country: the sky is always glorious!

CONGRATS – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

October marks the beginning of the third and last year of our Capital Campaign.  Thanks from the Church to all of you who have continued to faithfully contribute to that fund.  If you have any questions about your pledge or contributions, contact Marcie Geissinger, Financial Secretary.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!

On Sunday, September 30th, we welcomed Maxine and George Cebula into our church family!  They came to us by transfer of membership from the First United Methodist Church of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maxine and George are residents of Golden West and have been attending our worship services there since moving here earlier this year.  Please include the following information in your church directory and join together in welcoming this new couple!  God’s blessings continue!

NEW LABYRINTH DEDICATION

The Grillo Health Information Center is pleased to announce the official

dedication of the Grillo Center Labyrinth, Municipal Complex Park.

Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 4 PM to 6 PM

We invite you to join us to celebrate the opening of the Grillo Center Labyrinth.  Bring your friends and family.  Light refreshments, music and a community walk is planned.

The concept of the labyrinth as a meditative and healing place is old, revered and, in our time, experiencing a revival.  This labyrinth was designed by local Boulder artists, George Peters and Melanie Walker and was installed under their supervision by an all-volunteer crew this past June.

The dedication and reception area will be under the south library bridge area alongside the Boulder Creek.

For more information and to assist in this event, contact Susan Wadle at 303.417.1098 or at susanwadle@comcast.net.

WHERE?........The labyrinth is located just south of Boulder Creek between the main branch of the Boulder Public Library and the Boulder West Senior Center.  Parking is available in the Boulder Public Library parking lot east of the main Arapahoe Ave. entry and at the North Municipal Park lot off of Canyon.
