…ON THE BOARD WALK

At the annual meeting on November 12th both the budget and slate of officers for 2007 were adopted.  Hugh Crowder reported on the quest to find property for our new building.  There was much discussion around why the Café Committee and the Board had chosen the church property rather than the school property.  Hugh explained that the cost of borrowing money to purchase the land and the cost of the land was a big part of the decision.  There was some discussion about how to plan for mission and program as we move forward.  At the board meeting in November the Board received a proposal from Eleanor Hubbard and it was decided that Eleanor would bring a suggestion for how to investigate our mission and how to keep it foremost in our minds as we move forward.

The new committee chairs will be approaching you to ask you to serve on their committee during the next year.  Please say yes when you are asked.  We need each of you to become involved in the process as we move forward.  If you would prefer to choose your committee, here is the list of committees and chairs.  All you need to do is choose yours and tell the chair you want to be part of the committee in 2007.

Education - Jeff Wilkins-Crowder

Church Growth and Membership - Doris Martin

Outreach and Christian Action - Carol Ashmore

Worship - Rachel Shepherd

Property - Dennis Hubbard

Diaconate - Debbie and Dave Manica

Library - Marilyn Howell

If you don’t see your favorite thing to do on this list, talk to Erik Mason or myself and we will help you find your place to serve.

UPDATE ON THE SALE OF OUR REAL ESTATE

On November 14, the Trustees signed an Amendment to the Agreement to sell our real estate.  The amendment moves the contract due diligence (inspection period) date from November 14 to December 14, 2006.  Also, this Amendment moves the Replacement Property Deadline from June 30, 2007, to July 30, 2007.

This additional 30 days for the due diligence was needed to complete paperwork confirming verbal agreements between Golden West and the buyer of FCC property related to easements on FCC property, and to remove an old easement and agreement on the County Recorder’s records.

LIFE AND NEWS OF THE CONGREGATION!

Celebrities in our midst:  Dave Norris, Debbie Haseman, Jeannine Henderson and Rachel Shepherd were all recently mentioned in articles appearing the Daily Camera!  Dr. Norris’ work regarding the feminization of fish was covered as was Debbie’s role as a mentor to educators.  Golden West Board members Jeannine and Rachel were pictured at the ground

  breaking for GW’s new building.

It was a rerun, but fun to see Bart and Linda Crowder’s Breckenridge home featured in a show on HGTV!  Bart is the son of Mary and Hugh Crowder.

Three of our youth attended the Mid-Winter Youth Retreat last weekend.  Maggie Haseman, Megan Howe and Sammy Landis made sure FCC-Boulder was well represented!

The Rev. Cheryl Breiner will be our pulpit guest on November 26th while Cindy and Terry Zimmerman are in St. Louis for Thanksgiving.

December 10th will be the last Sunday Priscilla Inkpen will worship with us for a while.  She thinks that living in Cambridge, England will make it too difficult to commute.

Mending well:  Joann Dennett, from recent knee surgery, Ray Crowder, another knee replacement, Peggie Hudiburg, from back surgery last week.

Pauline Matteson, who is at Applewood Living Center in Longmont, misses her many friends from FCC and Golden West, but is adapting well to her new home there.

Congratulations to Gary and Marilyn Howell on the birth of their granddaughter London Delaney born on November 17.  She is the daughter of Nathan and Brandy Howell.

Cory Wendling is searching for a new teaching job.  Japan or California, or in the country in S. Korea. He has chronic bronchitis from the dampness, mold and pollution in Pusan, S. Korea.  Cory will be at the following new address until December 22.  He enjoys hearing from friends and family.
