LIFE & NEWS OF THE CONGREGATION!

We received an e-mail from Priscilla Inkpen, associate member of our congregation who is now living in England.  She shared that she has been diagnosed as having cancer and has requested prayer for herself and partner, Paula.

Prayers have also been requested for Craig Canady, son of Ann Canady.  He has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and will be undergoing chemotherapy.

Louise Johnson reports she had a “trip of a lifetime” while recently visiting Washington, D.C. for the very first time!

Rosie Campbell and Martha Mason just returned from a visit with Echo McAfee at her home near Kansas City, Missouri.  The trio traveled to Branson, Missouri to share in a few days of R & R.

BIG THANKS to the Worship Committee and ALL who contributed to making our Organ Dedication Service such a wonderful experience!  We are so proud of our organist / accompanist Ikuko Scheuren!

Marj Collins has artwork up on the walls of her apartment in Loveland and is beginning to feel it is home.  Yet, she misses her many friends here at FCC.

After a business trip to Minneapolis last week, Marcie Geissinger spent a long weekend with Jennifer Ashby and Scott Pugh and their children Arianna and Bryce in Houghton, Michigan.  She couldn’t miss this opportunity to see the grandchildren!

The Stickle’s went to Baltimore to be with the whole Stickle extended family to attend the graduation of one of the family members.

After a fall last week, Wayne Frank decided it was time for him to move to nursing care at Frasier Meadows.  Cathy, his wife, remains in their apartment.

On the road again!  This time it is Scotland and England for traveling man, Keith Lance!

UPDATE ON SALE OF PROPERTY

Chanin Development has made numerous changes to their plans for the property of FCC based on their conversations with Golden West representatives, and with FCC’s negotiating team sitting at the table.  After the Golden West Operating Board meeting, Golden West notified FCC and Chanin on May 16 of GW’s agreement to vacate the easement across the FCC south parking lot if five specific items were agreed by Chanin.  Chanin responded that “…Most of this looks fine with our team, and I will get back with you shortly…”  We will continue to keep you informed as additional information becomes available.

Marcie Geissinger, Chair, Trustees

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We love having children in the services but, if parents prefer, nursery care will be provided this summer.  If you are available to be "on call" for helping, as needed, in the infant/toddler nursery, please sign up for preferred dates.  A chart will be on the north bulletin board (and a copy in the nursery).

Thank you!

Christian Education Committee

Thank you to each of you for your prayers, concern, love and support during my mother’s recent bout with cancer.

She is on the mending side now, rebuilding her strength.  We trust she will continue her path to wellness in the coming months.

A special thank you to each of you.  What a comfort to know and have your support in struggles like these.

                                                                                    Love always,

Lee, Polly, Brent, Dawn & Aidan Warkentine

MUSIC!  MUSIC!  MUSIC!

The organ is amazing!!  And the organists Ikuko Scheuren, Kwiho Son and Gerry Luethi, who gave us a delightful afternoon of music, were amazing too.  It was a rare treat to hear and see Kwiho Son, who looked like she was dancing on the pedals, showing us what the organ was capable of.  The Worship Committee is grateful to them and to all others that gave of their time and talent to make the event so grand.  Thank you to the MINI Choir (Hugh Crowder, Milton Ashmore, Erik Mason, Ray Crowder, Priscilla Gifford, Carol Ashmore and Jane Byers), to Becca Hirsch for gathering and departing music, and to the readers during the service:  Becky Campbell-Howe, Jane Byers, Ray Crowder and, of course, Terry Zimmerman.  And thank you to our in-house D & D Moving Company, Dave Manica and David Shepherd.  Also, kudos to the organ purchase committee for a great job in researching and choosing the organ; thank you Jane Byers, Chuck Byers, Dennis Hubbard, Keith Lance, Vincent Mirandi and to Becky Campbell-Howe who ordered the organ.

                                                                                                Rachel Shepherd

                                                                                                Chair of Worship Committee

WORK DAY SUCCESSFUL!

Eighteen members helped with the annual cleanup day at FCC.  They trimmed trees, pulled weeds, cleaned and cut weeds in the playground area, raked leaves, turned on the sprinkler system and repaired a couple items in the kitchen.  Two pickup loads of limbs, grass and organic stuff were hauled to the composting area and old carpet and a table were given to Resource 2000 for recycling.  The crew gave a total of 58 hours of labor to FCC—that is almost a week and half of labor hours and a tremendous dollar amount if the work needed to be paid for.  It is often difficult to imagine how much tithing of labor goes into keeping the church functioning.  Thanks to:  Bob Wendling, Marilyn Howell, Martha Mason, Jean and Ray Crowder, Dennis and Eleanor Hubbard, Marcie Geissinger, Jeff Crowder, Erik Mason, Jane Byers, Jim Howe, Bill Einert, David Shepherd, Dave Manica, Terry and Cindy Zimmerman, and Mary ann Pinon.

                                                                                                Dennis Hubbard

                                                                                                Chair of Property Committee

TWO NEW IN THE PEW

Adeline Zetocha was born in Bruno, Nebraska on August 1, 1914.  It was an entirely Czech community and only Czech was spoken in her home and in the community.  She was brought up in the Catholic faith.

When Adeline graduated from high school she was qualified to teach in a rural school and she did teach in a one-room school for three years.  She married Sylvester Zetocha in Grand Island, Nebraska.  They had three children.   Her daughter Marilyn lives in Boulder; one son, Ronald, died May 2006; and son Paul lives in Tucson.  Adeline has nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  She retired from the Federal Aviation system in Los Angeles and Denver in 1989 and moved to Golden West in February 1994.  She loves Golden West and the church service in the Aspen Room on Sundays.

Joyce Jonker was born in Iowa and grew up there.  Her ancestors came from Holland and her religious affiliation was with the Christian Reform Church.  She was married in Iowa and has three boys and a girl.  Her daughter Jayne lives in Longmont.  She also has two great granddaughters in Longmont and one in Texas, most likely the reason why Joyce will be traveling to Texas in June.

Joyce moved to Colorado in 1955 and says she likes it here.  She worked at Leanin’ Tree before she and her husband had their own business, the Arapahoe Paint Center.  He died in 2000.

Joyce likes Terry’s sermons and attends the Golden West service.
