ANNUAL ALL-CHURCH RETREAT

Save the DATE!  We have reserved the Sunshine Mountain Inn for August 3rd (if you would like to spend the night) and the 4th.  More details will be coming as to the theme.  I can tell you that Janet Barriger and Sherrill Morris are putting together some very exciting stuff.

JULY IS BCAP MONTH AT FCC

As has been our tradition the past several years, First Christian Church of Boulder holds a special offering each Sunday during the month of July for B.C.A.P. (Boulder County AIDS Project).  Donations of cash, in an envelope marked "BCAP," or checks with "BCAP" in the memo, may be placed in the morning offering plate.

WE REMEMBER IN PRAYER

Frank Campbell, June Craig, Ferne Denton, Lloyd Draper (brother of Eleanor Hubbard), Marjorie Goodrick (cousin of Marcie Geissinger), Priscilla Inkpen, Charles & Shirley Kassinger, Alex and John Merrell, Sherrill Morris.

LIFE & NEWS OF THE CONGREGATION!

Rachel and Roy Shepherd recently took a trip to Las Vegas to watch their daughter, Carrie play in poker tournaments!

Happy belated birthday wishes to our newest member, Margrith Muhlheim who celebrated her birthday on June 19th.  Happy Birthday, Margrith!

Mel, Daniel, and Thomas Abel and Martha Mason met with Marj Collins for lunch on Monday, June 18 in Loveland.  Mel said they had a lovely time!  The boys enjoyed playing in the park across the street from where Marj lives.

Gertrude Walker celebrates her 105th birthday on July 15!  Gertrude resides at Boulder Manor.

Alie Wilkins-Crowder, Sady Swanson and Zachary Poore had a good time at camp last week!  Zachary is already asking about the Mid-Winter Retreat!  This was his fifth year of attending camp at La Foret.

Cindy and Terry celebrated their anniversary in Rosas, Spain.  The food was wonderful.   Happy Anniversary, Cindy and Terry!

Thanks to Peggie Hudiburg who filled in for Sherrill on Sunday, June 24 at the Children’s Time.

Bouquets and thanks to all the Chefs Extraordinaire of the New Women’s Group who

were host and cleanup crew for our latest church potluck dinner last Sunday!

Micah and Zachary Poore were treated by grandma Carol Poore to the Sunday afternoon production of Corteo in the tent at the Pepsi Center.  ’Twas wonderful!

LOVE AND SYMPATHY TO ALEX AND JOHN MERRELL

We have received word from Kay Norris about the death of Alex Merrell's brother, John Ostashek.  He died in midJune while the Merrells were in Edmonton where he was hospitalized.  He had been fighting cancer but was doing reasonably well and was active until shortly before his death.

John and Alex Merrell are in the Yukon Territory now and will stay through July 7 when services will be held.  Prayers are requested for Merrell’s safe travel and for the celebrations of the life of John Ostashek.  He was prominent in Yukon Territory politics, so there will be a public memorial in Whitehorse and then a private memorial at John's ranch near Burwash Landing.

I am sorry to say that I have a doctor’s note preventing me from working until further notice.  Even if I got to Boulder, if the rolling vision became severe, it could have bad results (like throwing me out of the chair last Wednesday).  That could be really bad in a service or very upsetting for the kids at Youth Group, so I guess I'll follow her directions.

I hope, with parents’ help, to continue the Youth Group all summer, even if it takes me a while to return.  Parents, please contact me and we will make plans.

I get little windows of time when I can see with one eye closed and I rush to the computer to see if I have email and to answer it, so I am still accessible that way.  Phone calls are also good.  I feel very isolated stuck in my apartment except for medical appointments and tests and would LOVE the contact.  I could also use help shopping for groceries.

As far as what is going on, we have ruled out most of the little things and are moving on to the bigger things.  Not my idea of fun, but I have hopes that we will find the cause soon.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers in this time.

If you want to help with children’s sermon or youth group, please contact me.

—— From Sherrill Morris, Youth Director

TEMPORARY SUMMER YOUTH GROUP HOURS

Sherrill would like to know if the time that the Youth Group meets could be changed just for the summer.  The current time of 4:30 is difficult for some to drop off their youth.

The summer hours would be 5:15 to 6:45 if she gets enough response.  Please call Sherrill to let her know if the above hours would work.
